It is so easy to read the news and shrug. But this one has me fired up, in a good way. Some of our fellow Americans in Alaska have turned down FREE heating oil because of the source.
Politics aside, they have taken the stance of "that may be my ugly brother, but damn it I am the only one who can talk about him" in regards to Venenzuelan President Chavez's comments about Bush and then subsequent offer of oil to the Alaskan tribe.
A tribal council administrator, Justine Gunderson stated, "As a citizen of this country, you can have your own opinion of our president and our country. But I don't want a foreigner coming in here and bashing us. Even though we're in economically dire straits, it was the right choice to make."
