Uh oh

The owner of the business I work for decided to make some cutbacks.

Apparently the water bill was getting a little high as well. We have been instructed that for #1 we can use the forest outside. But for #2 we can use the bathroom but the toilet can only be flushed once a day. Bathroom tissue will be BYO.

Perfect

Panasonic makes a foray into the useless toilet seat business, trying to sell this Panasonic DL-GWN device that lights up a bull's-eye in the water at which to aim your stream. Its light has a dual function, also warming the toilet seat, which we can tell you from personal experience is a highly desirable feature, especially in winter.

But hey, instead of spending the $1165 on this throne, we would suggest a dimmable light switch in your bathroom along with a heated toilet seat, both which can be had for a fraction of that price and accomplish the same thing. Or better yet, guys, get your own urinal—no lights needed, no splashing unless you're really drunk and your aim is off by 90 degrees. Anyway, the Panasonic DL-GWN will be available November 1.

Finally! One less thing to be yelled at when I'm home

500 pound gorilla

Walmart decided to tell the movie studios that if they do decide to sell their movies on iTunes then they WILL NOT be seeling those movie at their chain. Walmart is the biggest seller of DVD's in the country. They have already returned their shipment of Disney movies.

Dumb

Ok, we all know that movie companys don't care. Their gonna get their money either way, people are still going to go to the movies, still going to use Netflix and Blockbuster. In my opinion it will still take a good 5 years for movies to go digital. And for that to happen all Telecom companys will need to upgrade their systems to accomodate the large data rates and transfer speeds. Then, in the customers home, you'll need to either run wire throughout the house or use wireless. Wireless G protocol transmits around 54mbs a second which cannot sustain a streaming HD video. So now we need to wait for the "N" protocol.

So until all this happens we will still be watching movies in DVD (not HD) quality, so to me it looks like it's another example of the corporations trying to milk the consumer for more and more money.

On a side note:
Regardless of what your watching......
DVD's - 500 lines of resolution
HD - anything 750 lines or better

witht that said......
780p and 780i

i = interlaced (every other line)
p = progressive (all lines all at once)

Soooooo, DVD is 500p
Most HD out today (including cable) 780i
So, cut that in half and we're basically watching a really clean DVD transfer

Don't believe the hype

say it ain't so!

Against my better judgement I will post this fine video that Fatalfastlane provided. I also would like to take this opportunity to state that a few of these are from the OS9 days and more from 10.1 when it forst came out. I will also state that because of these Steve now has multiple computers under the desk in case of mishap. But notice. There were NO crashes. Just bugs.

Sometimes I feel bad, but then...

Ok, I am a techie, geek, whatever. I work with hardware, software, design, whatever when it comes to computers/networks again whatever. Because of this, I get the unique opportunity to see exactly how much people are willing to pay for things. Case in point, guy finds box of old cdrom games from back in the day. Originally created for DOS, then updated for 95/98. He finds this while digging through some boxes one day and decides it would be a blast to play them again. Well, (Chris, yes I am going to dog Father Bill) the "Run As" function in XP is a joke....

I will pause while Fenix thinks of several witty eviscerations for windows...

To the point, guy says he is willing to pay whatever it cost to put together a system to do this. My first thought is "Cha-Ching". I tell him that it will take time which for me runs $60/hr. He says "Ok, what are we talking 2-3 hours?"

Uh, yea per driver that I will have to find that is good and doesn't hose something else. Since he is a friend of a friend, I decide to just give him a flat rate plus out of pocket for parts if needed.

He agrees. Call him tonight and tell him I am almost done should have Wednesday. I can hear him drooling on the other end.

Finally, I have to ask why it is gonna be worth $200 plus parts to play these games. Without pause he informs me that his first computer "porn" was Leisure Suit Larry 2, and he wanted to get back to basics....

Uh, ok now I don't feel so bad.
I forgot how funny some of these Sprint commercials are

Ahhh, just watch the video and think of FreeMoz on the left and Fenix on the right.

Mine

Oh my sweet mother-in-law. No matter what, she always puts a smile on my face.

A little backstory;

The outlaws (that's what I call them) are what we in the northeast call "off da boat". Meaning that they come directly from the Azores. Portuguese Island people. Now these are a VERY proud people. Also, IMHO, there are two kinds that came over, the "old bobs" and the "fashnandas". Bobs will work till there arms fall off, no job too big. And the others, well, they kinda just hang out with their hats cocked alittle to the side and well.....hang out. Doing nothing.

My inlaws are th bobs. Let me explain. VERY religous, and VERY hard working. My f.i.l. used to walk to and from work (no joke!) regardless of the weather. The contruction company he worked for basically forced this man to retire, and the day before retirment he was carrying shingles on his back, up a latter, to the roof, for a delievery. I truly hope that I am half the man he is someday. And did I mention that the devotion to family is just as strong as their devotion to religion. My mother in law is just the do all mom. Worked in the laundry all day for almost no money, and did it with a smile and thank you. Came home, cooked, took care of the children, and cleaned. Went to bed around 11, woke up and did it all again without a single complaint, ever. Did I mention cleanliness? I want to add that the portuguese have a whole new level of cleanleness that I never new existed. Not that my parents were slobs or that I am, but this is different. I mean they wash all the walls every other weekend, and 2 times a year the house is completly ripped apart for another cleaning with shampoo machines and buffers and stuff. Amazing. Again, I hope to be half the poeple that they are someday. They are getting older now, but still haven;t lost their drive.....just their hearing. Kinda funny though. For instance it's hilarious to listen as my m.i.l. heads down to do the laundry, dad wonders where she is so he stands at the top of the stairs calling for her. She's answering but he can't hear her! So he keeps calling, too stubborn to come downstairs to find her but at the same time getting upset that she's not answering. She's downstairs laughing, telling him in portuguese, that she's gone away, knowing that he can't hear! It's really too much. I've actually witness him walking around outside then asking me, "Chris, you see yur mather?", "Yea Pi, she went in about 5 minutes ago." Then he walks away mumbling something in portuguese that I'm SURE I'm not supposed to know the translation too. A never ending source of enjoyment.

Back to the story

So my day off is today, but I need to get some work done. After the girl goes off to school I get cleaned up and get ready to go get a coffee. I ask my soon to be 2 year old if he wants to go also. He shakes his head and I scoop him up to go. M.i.l. says bye and the kid goes mental. So I just turn around and ask her to come with me, it's a short ride. About 10 minutes into the 20 minute drive, I ask her if she let dad know that she was going, she looks at me, then just starts laughing! "no, it's ok, he'll be fine". I said "no he won't, he'll be walking up and down the street looking for you and the boy!" Again, she just laughed and said he'd be ok. Sure enough, pull inot the driveway and he's coming around the back of the house not looking real happy. She jumps out and I can hear him yelling at her. Not really yelling though. I might not know alot of portuguese but there was definatly concern and anger in his voice. She just smiled, said something to him, patted him on the head and everything was fine for him. I now know what love is, and wish everyone to have poeple in their life to be able to look to for an example of tolerance, understanding, and never ending love. The harrassment is just a funny side effect.

A.S.N.F.

When you thought I wasn't looking,
I saw you hang my first painting on the refrigerator,
and I wanted to paint another one.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you feed a stray cat,
and I thought it was good to be kind to animals.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you make my favorite cake for me,
and I knew that little things are special things.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I heard you say a prayer,
and I believed there is a God I could always talk to.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I felt you kiss me goodnight,
and I felt loved.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw tears come from your eyes,
and I learned that sometimes things hurt, but it's all right to cry.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw that you cared
and I wanted to be everything that I could be.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I looked...
and wanted to say thanks for all the things
I saw when you thought I wasn't looking.

Adult Joke

There was this couple that had been married for 20 years. Every time
they made love the husband always insisted on shutting off the light.

Well, after 20 years the wife felt this was ridiculous. She figured
she
would break him out of this crazy habit. So one night, while they were
in the middle of a wild, screaming, romantic session, she turned on
the
lights. She looked down, and saw her husband was holding a
battery-operated leisure device... a vibrator! Soft, wonderful and
larger than a real one.

She went completely ballistic. "You impotent bastard," She screamed at
him, how could you be lying to me all of these years? You better
explain yourself!"

The husband looks her straight in the eyes and says calmly:

I'll explain the toy . . . you explain the kids."

Listen up fanboys

Ahh poor Sony

Alright you fanboys and girls. Give it up. PS3 is a joke. And I'll prove it.......

Platters of processors usually have about 20% of the chips that come off are bad. In the PS3 case, it's somewhere around a 80% bad.

Blu-Ray still hasn't been declared the winner of the format war and frankly it has been losing ground as of late. The first Blu-Ray movies that shipped looked like something a coworker made on their laptop!

The lasers for the player are currently on back order (lol)

Some of the connections on the back will be disabled upon launch and will be activated by a firmware upgrade at a later date.

Conflicting stories state that either the HD connection will not be active on launch or the player firmware is bad. Many stories on that but the fact remains that as of now there will be no HD playback at launch.

Developers are still either waiting for more hardware information or are still waiting for there dev kit. Nice.

And the icing on the cake, Sony promised 4 millon units by November (july 06), yet they neglected to tell anyone that they had yet to start building any!!

And the nail in the coffin, Sony just announced that units will only ship to North America and Japan at this time. The rest of the world can wait until March of 2007. But wait there's more, Japan will get 100,000 and North America will get 400,000. Can anyone else say "not enough". Xbox release something like 2 millon and still came up short. I can guess that out of those 400,000 that some are spoken for, whether it's promotions or in house.

So fanboys, what are you still waiting for?? Madden? It's on the 360. Grand Theft Auto? We have Saints Row, which looks and plays better. Gran Tourismo? C'mon, let that franchise die already, there are sooo many better car games on the 360 and on the original!

So, in closing, get your head out of your ass, forget PS3, and get a 360. You won't regret it

Nude on the Moon
Space Thing (special edition"
Wham-Bam-Thank you Spaceman (I kid you not)

Un called 4

Like you couldn't see the people I hang with doing this!!

Can you believe it

Sometimes you hear something and you have to go back and listen again because you just can't believe that people think like this. In all walks of life around the globe there is people that think their shit doesn't stink. Here in Rhode Island it's called Newport.

I can see SO MANY of the people I deal with doing this.
